Apple, Messenger Experience is Changing with RCS Support

Last year, Apple announced RCS support, opening a new page in the messaging experience between iPhone and Android users. However, the initial version offered only basic features and lacked many advanced functions that users expected. According to the latest information, the company is preparing to release a major update that includes critical features such as end-to-end encryption and message editing.

Apple RCS Support is Changing the Messaging Experience

The RCS protocol currently used in iOS versions only supports basic functions such as read receipts and high-quality photo sending. However, according to Apple’s statements, with the transition to RCS 3.0 version, security standards will be raised.

With this new version, the end-to-end encryption technology that has been a standard on the iMessage platform for years will now be available in conversations with Android devices as well. Thus, messaging between platforms will become much more secure.

Message Editing and Undo Feature Coming

In addition to security updates, there are also innovations on the way that will directly affect user experience.

With the new update, it will be possible to edit and undo messages sent through the RCS protocol. Also, emoji reactions, which are currently only text-based, will now work properly, and users will be able to respond to messages directly with emojis. According to claims based on beta versions of French operators, these features are expected to be tested starting this month with the iOS 26.4 update.
